Waves, sun, and sand. Part One.
As I wake up and take my headphones off, I realize the plane is making its final approach to the airport below. 'Only three months late, I'm finally getting my well deserved vacation.' I thought to myself. We land with no problems and disembark straight onto the tarmac. I pick up my luggage, make my way to the front, and hail a cab to take me to the resort. Driving through the island streets, the bright sun reflecting off the tin roofs, I see a local girl that has to be the most beautiful woman that I've ever seen. I ask the cabbie, "Did you see that girl? Do you know who she is?" He laughs and just shakes his head, "That, my man, is the daughter of the governor of our fair island. She's as untouchable as she is beautiful. I hear her father has a special interest in her future, and keeping it the way he wants it." I laugh, but take the warning for what it is. This girl was beautiful, but the beauty came with a risk. For the rest of the ride, I tried my best to forget her her, but doing that was easier said than done. We pull up to the resort, I tip him, and thank him for the advice. He smiles, winks, and nods at me. "Don't let me hear about you in the paper." he says. "I'll just be here relaxing on the beach." I reply. He laughs and drives off. I check in and make my way down the path to my cabana. Opening the door I lay my bags on the bed, strip down to my trunks, and make my way out the back door that opened onto the beach. The sun was reflecting off the warm, blue waves. The wind gently rocking the trees, I smile and think, 'Time for a swim after that long flight.' I make my way down the soft sand and into the water. I make my way out far enough for the water to be over my head and just float. Relaxing. Letting the waves rock me. I spend about an hour in the water before making my way back to shore. As I come out of the water, I see a woman walking down the beach. 'No way. It couldn't be.' I thought. To my surprise and joy, it was. I come walk further up the beach. I look over to her and she smiles at me. Her white teeth bright against her sun kissed skin. I smile back and say, "Well hey there, I'm Ryan. I thought the view was the most beautiful thing on this island, but I see I was wrong." She laughs at my pitiful attempt but introduces herself. "I'm Angelica. I'm glad to see wit isn't lost in our day and age." "I saw you on my way here from the airport. You were just in front of the market. Could we go back there and you could show me some of the best things to get? So we could make dinner. If you want to that is." She smiles again and said, "I could do that." "Let me go in and get a shirt and shoes" I say. We spend some time at the market, picking things out that she suggests. "This is a local grown fruit, the best in the Caribbean." picking up a brightly colored fruit and putting it in the bag. "It's also known to be an aphrodisiac. At least that's what I hear." I laugh and we make our way around the stalls. We get everything needed. What we're going to be making, only she knows. I have what I want to make in mind, but I'm leaving it in her hands.
